Worship and Sacraments (Licensing School 2019-2020) will meet at Millsaps College.
Who May Register: Candidates for ministry in the UMC who have been approved as a Certified Candidate, received the recommendation of their local church Pastor-Parish Relations Committee & Charge Conference, been approved by their District Committee on Ordained Ministry, and are preparing to receive an appointment in the 2020-2021 Annual Conference year. Exceptions may be made at the request of a District Superintendent for those already serving a church/charge or who will appointed/assigned for the next Conference year. Applications must be signed by the candidate's Mentor, DCOM Chair, and District Superintendent before registration will be approved.
Registration Fee: $10 per class, payable online, check by mail, or by check or cash upon arrival.
Housing: Available at the Cabot Lodge Millsaps for the Friday night of each session.
Cost: $45/shared room; $90/single room per weekend. Payable online with registration or by check or cash upon arrival.

Communication: All Licensing School communication will be sent to you via email, including required textbooks, assignments, locations, and any changes due to inclement weather, etc. Please make sure your email address is entered correctly on your Center for Ministry profile, and check your email regularly for information from the Center for Ministry. If you are not receiving these emails from the Center for Ministry, please call 601-974-1488 for assistance.

Pastors will learn the following:
The forms, purposes, and theology of ritual, liturgy, and music, the basic elements in The United Methodist Hymnal and The Book of Worship.
Understand the sacrament of baptism in the UM tradition, including the work of God in infant baptism and confirmation.
Understand Holy Communion as a means of God’s grace.
Awareness of the elements involved in premarital consultation, wedding rehearsal, and the service of Christian Marriage as indicated in resources provided by the church.
Understand the preparation, purpose, form, and content of the funeral or memorial service as well as pastoral understanding of the local situation.
